Greenway Festival – Camping Event

May 23, 2013

Once the fair had closed, nearly 50 families took to the field for an overnight camp. The weather was extremely kind with no wind and even a bit of sunshine (it could have been so different!!)

The fish and chip van fed them delicious fish and chips (too delicious as the campers didn’t have much room for the Victoria sandwich cakes!)

All the children had a fantastic time playing on the adventure playground, making dens in their tents, doing the treasure hunt, having fun in the tuck shop and listening to bedtime stories in the woods. They were exhausted by bedtime!

The campfire roared (and scorched the field, oops!) and we even got a free view of Bridgewater’s fireworks!

After a delicious breakfast of bacon butties or croissants the campers packed up and left and the campsite returned to being a school field as if it had never happened (apart from the scorch!)

Thanks very much to the camping posse Ali & Fred Friend, Beth Baylay, Suzanne Mitchell, Rich Edwards, Will Buttle,  Kate Moody, James Page, Emma Przygrodzki, Penny Jordan and all the volunteers on the day.

The Festival  raised around £4,400. This will go a long way to helping the GSA raise enough funds to buy 30 tablet computers which will be used by every class at Greenway.
