Greenway’s Chef, Dean Litchfield, came a very creditable 3rd in the final of a regional cooking competition. Dean has 12 years experience as a chef and started at Greenway in September 2013, making an immediate impression on the children and staff. He said, “I really enjoy cooking and it’s a lot better working with kids because they seem to enjoy the food a lot more than adults”.
Each entrant had to produce a healthy, balanced two-course meal that would appeal to 11 year olds in school. A maximum of £1.60 was allowed to be spent on ingredients for the meal. Dean prepared a Thai turkey curry for the main course and a strawberry and cranberry cheesecake for dessert.
Dean said, ‘It’s nice to have appreciation and people liking my food. I have had some great feedback from the kids”
