Year 2 visit to Buckinghamshire Railway Centre

June 2, 2014

In Year 2 we have enjoyed learning all about George Stephenson.  As part of our learning, we went on a trip to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre in Quainton.  We were able to look at many different trains and engines and find out lots of interesting facts about them.  We even saw a small model replica of Stephenson’s Rocket in the museum.  Everyone was very excited about riding a working steam train and some of us got to sit in first class!  It was a lovely, sunny day which meant we were able to have a picnic lunch and spend lots of time exploring outside.  The highlight of the day for many of the children was the ride on the miniature railway.

We have also been very fortunate to have one of the children’s Grandads come and visit us and show us the amazing model train that he had made himself.  We asked lots of questions and learned a lot about the process of building a train from start to finish!
