Visitor re World War 2

June 5, 2015

As part of our final work on WWII in English, Year 4 were lucky enough to have a special visitor in school.
Mrs Heard, Hazel’s Grandmother, very kindly came to school to talk about her and her family’s experiences during the war. She brought with her lots of artefacts that her parents had collected over the years and the children were able to handle them. She shared lots of interesting stories about her parents’ experiences during the war and some of her own memories.
The children really enjoyed listening to Mrs Heard’s fascinating stories about her father who drove a flame throwing tank and about how she had been evacuated as a baby.
