Years 5 and 6 Inter- School Cross Country Competition 21/10/15

October 23, 2015

On Wednesday afternoon the children selected to represent Greenway in the inter-school competition went to Ashlyns School. With the heavy rain in the morning there was speculation as to whether the event would take place, but by the afternoon the rain had stopped. The event was a team event where the finishing positions of the first 4 children home are tallied up, with the lowest scoring team winning.

The first event was the Year 5 girls 2 kilometres run. The children were slightly daunted with the distance but it did not dampen their spirits. The girls ran really well and special mention must go to the Ray twins who were the highest placed finishers for Greenway! The Year 5 boys followed and Jude ran very well finishing third and Finn completing the course in seventh. The Year 6 girls were very keen to race and Erin managed to save her energy for the last part of the race and overtook many competitors in the final 50 metres. The year 6 boys finished the event and just like the other competitors represented Greenway very well. The highest finishing boy was Jacob. The results have not been collated as yet but congratulations to all those children who took part in the rather soggy conditions!
