Greenway girls football match vs Hobletts Manor, 19.11.15

November 20, 2015

On Thursday the 19th of November, the Greenway girls football team played away to Hobletts Manor. The game got underway and it seemed pretty flat for most parts with the occasional breakaway from either side. The Hobletts number 10, however, soon became an issue. She continuously burst down the right side and delivered strong powerful crosses into the box which Greenway initially dealt with. Eventually, one of the crosses found its way past the unsighted Annie (in the Greenway sticks) to give Hobletts a 1-0 lead. The game soon became flat again with Greenway managing to keep the game well within their grasp as halftime came.

The second half saw Greenway mount a few more attacks down the right side but never really created a clear cut opportunity. The game remained in the balance and fairly even for a while with just the one goal separating the sides. As the game drew to a close, Hobletts mounted a few strong attacks which Greenway couldn’t hold off anymore. A tame effort found its way in at the back post after a small deflection and then right at the end the Hobletts number 10 broke through to slot home. That sealed a 3-0 win for Hobletts.
