Year 1 visit to Sports Centre, 22.1.16

January 25, 2016

On Friday 22nd January, Year 1 had the chance to compete at the Sports Centre. There were 9 activities for the Year 1’s to compete in and the morning ran as a circuit, moving from station to station every five minutes.

The activities included: obstacle courses, basketball dribbling, throwing, kicking, jumping, balancing, speed stacking and hockey. The children were having fun, for the most part, but there were a few minor injuries and illnesses along the way which almost seemed to take away the fact that it was a competition and there had to be a winner.

As the festival came to a close, there was a sudden resurgence of competition in the atmosphere. The teams were seated and patiently waited for the results. Finally, Greenway were announced as winners! This means the year 1’s will receive a chance to represent yet again in the Dacorum finals.

There’s a strong message here of never giving up. Despite how the children felt, they kept giving it their all and participating. In the end, justice was served!
