Year 6 Girls Netball v Westfield 5.2.16

February 8, 2016

On Friday 5th February, Greenway Year 6 Girls netball team faced off against Westfield. This game comes just 1 day after an emphatic win against Limewalk. As the game began, it became apparent that Greenway was the dominant side creating a whole host of chances and building a demanding lead. This meant the game could be used to inject some much needed rotation, enabling the girls to stay fresh.

At the end of the first quarter, Greenway had put up 5 goals for Westfield’s 1. The Greenway dominance, however, did not continue into the second quarter. Some fresh additions to the match meant that Greenway had a period of adjustment to get used to each other. A slow quarter saw Greenway concede 2 but managed to edge the quarter still by posting up a respectable 3.

With the game now at 8-3, the scales were drawing ever closer to an equilibrium. The third quarter had a larger emphasis on defensive efforts, as the Greenway management tried to tighten up and become more disciplined in the backline. Greenway recorded a further 2 goals this quarter and conceded none to extend the Greenway lead to 10-3.

Tiredness kicked in for Greenway in the final quarter as they scored just 2 again and conceded another. This meant Greenway came out eventual victors with the scoreline set at 12-4. That’s 2 wins in a row and for the season, which will carry a healthy momentum into the next match.
