Nursery having fun and learning as they explore snow!

We have had a marvellous morning creating pretend snow with different fabrics and materials, snow collage pictures and patterns with chalk.

We brought the snow into Nursery to explore with our arctic animals and went outside and created footprints, snowballs and a little snowman.

The children started to notice water running down our playground and into the drain and that the snow was “going” and when we went back inside they were disappointed the snow had melted there as well! Consequently, some great descriptive and scientific language and thinking emerged as we explored and observed the changes throughout the morning and discovered why this had happened. For example, “The sun melted the snow!” “It changed back into water.” “The radiators melted the snow!” “It was too hot!”
