Greenway provides an excellent and solid foundation for a child’s education. It is a very effective setting for learning. We offer a friendly, caring and safe atmosphere, talented and experienced teachers and support staff, a delightful environment and good resources.

Greenway is a Community Primary and Nursery School set in a large, pleasant, quiet and safe site, which it shares with St Thomas More Roman Catholic Primary School, on the north-west side of Berkhamsted.

The school was purpose built in 1966 and was extended in 2010. It has a range of facilities including a nurture room, a calm room, a dining hall, a hall, and a purpose built library. The school has two playgrounds, a football pitch, a Daily Mile track and playing fields with many trees and shrubs. Outside there are also picnic benches, an adventure trail, a large climbing frame, a shaded teaching area and a wooden gazebo. Foundation stage classes also have their own outdoor areas with climbing frames, shade areas and appropriate equipment for their stage of learning. There are effective security measures in place throughout the whole school.

A public consultation took place during spring term 2012, as to whether the three tier system should remain or as to whether there should be a move to a two tier system. A move to a two tier system of education for the Town was subsequently agreed from September 2013.

Following the Schools Adjudicator’s decision in November 2012 to reduce Greenway’s Published Admission Number (PAN) for Reception from 60 to 30 in September 2013, our PAN for Nursery was also set at 30 in September 2013. As part of the Berkhamsted Re-organisation Greenway became became a 1 form entry primary school on 1st September 2014.
