Year 6

Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize

Year 6 have once again been judging this year’s crop of new Science books for the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize. They joined over 10,600 young people drawn from 471 schools and youth groups from across the UK to cast their votes for their favourite science book from a shortlist of six titles.

Greenway’s favourite this year was called Kid Scientists by David Stabler. It is a fascinating book that tells true tale from the childhoods of Science superstars and we are adding it to our stock of guided reading books thanks to donations from both the Royal Society and the Ogden Trust.

The overall winner of the prize was Planetarium by Raman Prinja and ChrisWormell and it is a stellar fusion of art and science. We also have this book in school for the children to be inspired by.
