2026 Go Construct K’Nex Challenge at Greenway,
On 29th April, Years 5 and 6 had a visit from Steve, a retired engineer, who is a volunteer on behalf of STEMPOINT. He came to run the 2026 Go Construct K’Nex Challenge at Greenway.
First, we talked about what being an engineer means and came up with an extensive list: they observe and wonder; share their curiosity; use tools to solve problems; construct inventions and create new things.
Next, the classes were given their own engineering challenge. They were asked to build a space rocket at least 20cm in height with detachable boosters and a capsule. They worked pairs and had only 60 minutes to complete the task.
The winner’s models were photographed and entered into the Regional Final to be judged against all of the schools taking part.
It was very difficult for Steve to select the Greenway winners, as all the children came up with some marvellous designs, but he chose Max C and Charlie from Year 5 and Clara and Evelyn from Year 6. Well done everyone!
